Subject: Paintball Markers

Hazards: Impact injuries, in particular to eyes.
Uncontrolled release of pressurised gas.

Persons at risk:

Employees (including casual workers), customers and members of the public.

Control measures in place:

All use of markers restricted to defined areas and 50m from any public area (max range of markers is 45m).
All customers and employees are provided with and must wear full eye, face and ear protection.
All customers provided with full body coveralls.
Issue of markers controlled by trained staff.
Full safety briefing and demonstration given before issue.
All active areas supervised by trained staff, ratio 1-10.
First aid facilities and first aiders on site.
No person under the age of 10 years permitted to participate.
All markers are regularly maintained, tested and choronographed to keep velocity below 300fps. Always reset to 260fps to allow for fluctuations due to temperature and paintballs.
All CO2 cylinders fitted with burst discus to prevent over pressurising.
Rest areas and administration areas designated as marker free zones. All markers to be kept in active side.
Racks provided and signs in place on both exit and entry points.

Control measures required:

All staff, in particular game managers, to monitor and enforce control measures.
